General Facts

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church that looks to the Bible as its authority. We believe in the same things that the major Protestant denominations do but we have three unique beliefs. We believe that Saturday, the seventh-day of the week, is the Sabbath. We believe the gift of prophecy was given to Ellen G. White, one of our founding members. We believe that there is a sanctuary in heaven.

We have approximately 19.5 million members worldwide with more than 153,000 Seventh-day Adventist congregations around the world. We have a number of church members across the Middle East North Africa region. The SDA Church has been an official denomination since 1863. It has the world’s second largest integrated network of schools with nearly 8,000 schools and 1.8 million students. It has the largest Protestant integrated network of hospitals and clinics worldwide with more than 730 healthcare institutions.
